Why Should You Avoid EAS Grants?

Why Should You Avoid EAS Grants?

I always thought that the chorusSome projects deserve support and I looked (earlier, about 7 years ago) through the prism of rose-colored glasses that you make a business plan, send it and you have a good chance of writing on a piece of paper. In general, I was deeply mistaken. Let's figure out why.

First business plan

I wrote my first business plan about a real estate daily rental portal and expected to get starditoetus (starter support). I made the biggest mistake here from the very beginning. EAS is a very rigid and bureaucratic system of rules, no one will go against them even in case of small discrepancies. And in my project there was a discrepancy, the daily rental property portal could not be supported, because EAS sets strict rules for who they support and how, but they do not finance the real estate sector. Unfortunately, these few pages of rules you need to thoroughly study before any ideas or attempts to do something. Without this, I do not advise you to submit any documents at all or develop a business idea. If your concept passes, then start writing.

I wrote a business plan for a long time and diligently, and when my creation was ready, I immediately sent it, and even bypassing the consultation recommended at that time. I thought that I was the smartest and could manage without them.

After some time, a girl contacted me, who tried to smash my idea to smithereens and, like a cherry on a cake at the end of the dialogue, said that there was still a risk in the idea that it would not go according to their rules, although she doubted it, because I was trying to grease the business plan as a site for a hostel-hotel, which generally fit the criteria.

The girl sent me the document back with mThese 60 pages of text are now almost completely red. There were so many comments and questions that every time I sat down for a file I was faced with some insurmountable demands or questions. In the end, I never found the time to take them all apart anddeceived went to do business without them.

Second round

Another business led me to the second attempt, where everything was already ready and it was necessary to receive labor compensation in order to further develop the service. This time I prepared much better, but surprises awaited me at every turn. Since I had greatly “pumped up” in knowledge, there were no questions regarding the business plan, although I had to patiently analyze all the comments. But it turned out that there is still a law according to which they can or cannot issue support, and the law was spelled out completely wrongnew provisions. For example, if you have people as owners who have at least 1 share/share/euro in your company, and they also own at least 1 share/share/euro in another company whose field of activity is the same, like yours, then you don't meet the criteria. And do you know how many pages this law has? Around 10, would it occur to you to read all the provisions of the law? It's like looking for 300 needles in a haystack without really knowing which one you need. After all, it is impossible, by reading a paragraph, to automatically produce a case according to which it will be applicable to you. Only capable of this @jurist_estonia

Сonclusion

In fact andatze. It took me about 1,5 years to finally get support and this is a total disappointment. I heard similar comments from all the other "beneficiaries". Do not waste your time on this nonsense, even after receiving a "grant" you do not receive money to the account, and you receive compensation for the expenses made and fight for 2 months, proving that the expenses are real, not to mention that there are 200 more provisions which may leave you without compensation.
